Titanium Grade 5
Material Notes: Titanium Grade 5, or Ti Gr5, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is an alloy that is predominantly made up of titanium (90% wt.), aluminum (6% wt.), and vanadium (4% wt%). Despite only consisting of 10 % additional elements, the alloy is desired in a multitude of industries due to its exceptional lightweight nature, strength, and corrosion and wear resistant qualities.
Applications: Titanium Grade 5 (TA6V4) is widely employed for parts of structures, for fasteners in the aerospace industry and marine applications owing to its extensive resistance to corrosion. Normally, it is treated by annealing, although, its heat treatment can enhance its temperature resistance up to 350 degrees Celsius.
