Stainless Steel 17-4
17-4 stainless steel, classified as SAE Type 630, is a versatile stainless steel alloy consisting of 17% chromium and 4% nickel. It finds extensive use in the gas, chemical and aviation industries that operate at elevated temperatures. It exhibits substantial corrosion resistance along with mechanical strength, toughness and strength up to 600°F (316°C). The stainless steel grade also demonstrates superior formability and while exhibiting moderate corrosive resistance allowing its use in operations that require high tensile strength. The 17-4 PH grade is the most used martensitic precipitation-hardenable alloy grade and is noted for its high strength with reasonable ductility and hardness at elevated temperatures and outstanding corrosion resistance in various environments.
