Aluminum 2A12
2A12 aluminum sheet is an alloy from the 2 series Al-Cu alloys which is copper dominant and is heat treated. This leads to increased strength following heat treatment. The sheet’s characteristics include good machinability and reasonable spot welding performance. However, gas welding and argon welding should be done with care due to the risk of intergranular cracking. Given the low level of resistance to corrosion, it is advisable to perform surface treatment or coat it with aluminum to improve its overall corrosion resistance.
